The John Joseph Keane collection 1868-1919.

Contains press clippings, scrapbooks, pamphlets, notebooks and a register reflecting the career of Keane, first rector of Catholic University, 1889-1896, Archbishop of Dubuque, 1900-1911, titular Archbishop of Cius, 1911-1918. Included too is a copy of his will. The clippings and scrapbooks mainly concern his activities as Bishop of Richmond, 1878-1888, CUA's foundation, and his resignation as its rector; a draft of the public statement issued by him on the latter occasion is also present. Of interest, a notebook containing a 62-page history, Chronicles of the Catholic University of America from 1885, in Keane's hand.
